That moment when you and your husband drive to the ocean and as you watch the waves crashing and you’re both in tears because you’re up against some serious spiritual warfare, so, you pray a desperate prayer, that prayer sounds something like “God, we trust you, but we’re feeling pretty low right now and we’re having to rely on the calling because everything fleshly in us wants to quit, could you just find some small way to encourage us to keep going because we know you’re a good God.”
Only 2 hours later another missionary friend serving in India writes out of the blue with these words, “Hello, I don’t know why, but I was thinking about you and your lovely family during this sermon I was watching! Perseverance is such a godly and glorious thing and I am so proud of you guys! I know that we will see beautiful things in the nations! Hope everything is going well! Really proud of your perseverance and your heart to serve the people!”
Tears, just lots of tears. Such a simple act can touch the very depths of your soul that only moments before was shaking under the weight. God’s faithfulness and love for His children is so overwhelming! Thanks to our dear missionary friend for being obedient and writing when God prompted her heart. If you feel the Holy Spirit whisper in your heart to write, call or reach out to someone, even if you don’t know why, do it! You could be an answer to their prayers! So wrecked by His overwhelming love for us.
Perseverance is often not an enjoyable road to walk. The difficulty and delay in the journey is tiring. There are days when we pray desperate prayers because everything in us wants to give up. We keep coming back to the steadfast, faithfulness of our Good, Good Father. How good is the God we serve? He is faithful in sending little notes of encouragement at the exact moments we need them. Persevere my friend.
